New Lanark relys heavily on the support we receive from the local community and wider public to continue our conservation work. There are lots of ways that you can get involved, from volunteering with us, to becoming a Friend of New Lanark, or making a financial donation. We are extremely grateful for whatever support you can offer.
Anyone can join the volunteer team and there are a wide variety of areas in which you can help out. For all roles, the time commitment is flexible and full training is provided. This wonderful group of people who are interested in helping preserve and promote New Lanark and its surroundings as a World Heritage Site works closely with New Lanark Trust and has contributed to many developments in New Lanark and beyond.
As a recognised charity we are immensely grateful for all donations, no matter how large or small. Donated funds are received by New Lanark Trust (Charity No: SC008552). They make a real difference to our work and are crucial to the success of our projects.
As a registered charity, leaving a gift to New Lanark Trust can prove extremely tax-efficient. It doesn’t have to be complicated:
1. Decide what kind of legacy you'd like to leave: a pecuniary legacy is a fixed sum of money; a residuary legacy is a percentage of your residual estate, after expenses and personal bequests; a specific legacy is a specific item such as heritage artefacts.
2. State in your will that you would like to leave a gift to us. We recommend using a solicitor or professional will-writer to make sure your will is legal and valid.
3. Include our full name, to make sure the gift goes to the right place: New Lanark Trust (SC008552), New Lanark Mills, Lanark, ML11 9DB
