  • Interpreting our Heritage

Helping more visitors to engage with the story of New Lanark

From an oral history listening post to a large scale computer Aided Virtual Environment and from woodland signposts to the re-creation of a period millworkers’ house, your legacy could contribute to the development of new ways of interpreting the fascinating and internationally significant heritage of New Lanark.

  • Conserving our Heritage

New Lanark Trust works tirelessly to conserve the built and material heritage of New Lanark village.

Whether supporting the repairing of stonework, the resurfacing of historic footpaths, the recording of period wallpaper or the conservation, cataloguing and digitisation of our archive, your legacy will enable this heritage to be enjoyed by generations to come.

  • Restoring our Heritage

The restoration of New Lanark village has been ongoing since the formation of the Trust in 1974

It is a massive task which is not yet complete! Your legacy could support the restoration of some of the historic buildings within and around the village, including Double Row, a former row of millworkers’ housing, the former Village Church and North Lodge Bridge at the pathway to the Falls of Clyde.

  • Promoting our Heritage

Your donation could help support one of the exciting exhibitions displayed at New Lanark World Heritage Site.

These have included The Great Tapestry of Scotland, the largest ever Scottish Community project, A New View of Society, an exhibition of original artefacts linked to Robert Owen and A Tale of Two Institutes, a joint exhibition with Lanark Library to celebrate the centenary and bi-centenary of the Lindsay Institute in Lanark and the Institute for the Formation of Character in New Lanark.
