Introducing New Lanark Trust
New Lanark Trust is a Registered Scottish Charity (SC008552) which was established in 1974 with the aim of restoring and regenerating the former cotton mill village of New Lanark into a living and working community. The Trust has pioneered a radical approach to heritage management based tourism and hospitality, housing and commercial property rental and manufacture and retail.
The Trust and its trading subsidiaries provide a major source of employment and commercial activity in the area, employing around 150 people from the local area, with a further 70 or so employed by other businesses operating in New Lanark. In addition, many local Lanark businesses provide a range of goods and services to New Lanark which makes a very significant contribution to the regional economy, estimated at around £7-8 million per annum.
