Camphill Foundation: World Wide Weave

23rd July - 6th August 2015, New Lanark Institute. 10am-5pm. Free entry!

Exhibition of 75 unique pieces of multi-media textile art: tapestries, weavings, feltings and other combined techniques by adults, children and young people with learning disabilities living in intentional communities in 19 countries, from California and Vancouver in the west to India and Vietnam in the east, from Scandinavia and Russia in the north to the southern tip of Africa.

The exhibition marks 75 years of the Camphill Movement, which began in Scotland on 1st June 1940. It celebrates unity in diversity, commitment to real community building and the essential human creativity that transcends all differences of age, ability, language, culture, religion and politics.
Hundreds of people have been involved in creating the exhibits and in some places many individuals have worked together on a single piece. Many exhibits are made with entirely home-produced and also recycled materials.

The exhibition will tour 20 venues in the UK and Ireland in 2015 and Switzerland, Finland and North America in 2016.
