Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology 2017

Visit Scotland Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology

The Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, running from 1 January to 31 December, is a celebration of Scotland’s people, our traditions, our distinct culture, our landscapes, attractions and icons, as well as our hidden gems.

Think ancient and mysterious standing stones, World Heritage Sites, sweeping glens and mountains, storytelling, heritage heroes, world-renowned historic collections and castles, and so much more! Uncover your Scottish ancestry and discover your clan’s roots. From the Scottish Borders to Orkney, and from Fife to the Isle of Skye, relive Scotland’s fascinating past through a range of exciting events, attractions and activities during 2017.
