New Lanark Housing Association
New Lanark Association Ltd. is a registered housing association with charitable status, Scottish Charity Registration No. SC006248. It is affiliated to the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations. It was founded in 1963, with the aim of restoring and refurbishing the original workers' housing in the historic mill village of New Lanark. So far, 45 homes available for rent have been created within the Category A Listed Buildings at Caithness Row, New Buildings, Nursery Buildings and Long Row. These are mostly flats with either 2 or 3 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and sitting-room.
New Lanark, which is now a World Heritage Site, has been restored as a living, working community. The resident population is around 185. In addition to the 45 rented properties, there are 20 houses which are privately owned, and which come on the open market from time to time.
The New Lanark Association accepts housing applications from anyone, but these are allocated according to Communities Scotland policies for housing associations, largely on the basis of housing need. If you are interested in applying to rent a property in New Lanark, please telephone 01555 661345 during office hours for more information.
