The New Lanark Visitor Centre offers an exciting range of exhibitions and visitor facilities. A single PASSPORT TICKET
gives access to all the different areas: the 'Annie McLeod Experience' ride, working textile machinery, the Millworkers' House, Robert Owen's House, the Roof Garden, the Village Store and the attractions in Robert Owen's School. Parties may book a full guided visit, which includes a guided tour of the village and Passport Tickets for the group. This option requires at least two hours. It is possible to issue individual Passport Tickets to the group, who need not then go through the Visitor Centre altogether. Pre-booking is essential if you wish to have a guide. The content of the tour can be varied to suit different interests.
Alternatively, you may choose to purchase Visitor Centre Passport Tickets for your group members who can then
visit the different exhibitions in any order they choose. Pre-booking is still recommended and necessary if you wish
to benefit from the pre-booked group discount of 1 free admission with every 10 paying members. Our attractive
guidebook, the New Lanark Heritage Trail, is available for a self-guided tour of the historic village. Information
about resources and publications is available to download.
Access and Parking. The Visitor Centre is "wheelchair friendly". Baby buggies can also be taken through. There
are toilet facilities in the Visitor Centre Reception foyer and next to the Mill Pantry (the cafeteria) in Mill Three.
There is a free car and coach park from which a footpath runs down to New Lanark, offering a spectacular view
over the historic village and River Clyde. For visitors with mobility problems, there is limited parking available in the
village, and coach drivers may bring elderly or disabled passengers down to the village to drop off. There is
coach parking and turning space next to the New Lanark Mill Hotel. Beautiful walks can be enjoyed in the Falls of
Clyde Wildlife Reserve, but sensible shoes are recommended. A separate information sheet for visitors with
mobility problems is available.
