The Trust
New Lanark Trust (previously known as New Lanark Conservation Trust) was formed in 1974 as an independent registered Scottish charity (SCO08552) dedicated to the restoration and development of the historic village, which was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 2001. The Trust aims to preserve New Lanark as a sustainable community, with a resident population and new opportunities for employment.
Current Trustees: Arthur Bell (Chair), Bill Jackson, Iain Macdonald, Willie Macleod (Vice Chair), Mary McNeill, Eleanor Murdoch, Alan Peden, Patrick Ross-Taylor, George Sutherland, Sheila Terry, John Ritchie, and Graham U'ren
The Trustees serve in a voluntary capacity. New Lanark Trading Ltd, New Lanark Hotels Ltd, and New Lanark Homes are wholly owned subsidiaries of the Trust and surpluses generated by these companies are returned to the Trust for reinvestment in the project.
