Curriculum Level: First & Second

For a fun full day of learning activities you can combine any of these activity options with access to the Visitor Centre Exhibitions. The Booking Team can recommend the best combination of activities for your group depending on your topic of interest.

Discovery Tours
We offer a range of 1 hour tours led by excellent guides tailored to suit your needs and the topic being studied. Pupils can explore a ‘single-end’, our textile machinery and find out about shopping 200 years ago!

Typical guide ratio: 1 guide for up to 30 pupils. Suitable for all.

Citizenship & Enterprise: Robert Owen & his Model Community

Classroom Roleplay Session
Led by a costumed teacher, pupils can experience school days in Robert Owen’s time (set in 1825). Lesson includes drill, hand-writing, arithmetic and dancing. Pupils dress up and write on slates. Group size: Up to 35. Most suitable for P4-7.

Self-led Visit
You are welcome to bring your group to the Visitor Centre and take them around yourself. Highlights that primary groups might enjoy are: Robert Owen’s School for Children ~ The Annie McLeod Experience Ride ~ The Millworkers’ House & Village Store. Duration: Approx. 2 hours
