BOOK LAUNCH
Sunday 24th June, 3.00pm

At 3.00pm following the Friends of New Lanark AGM, there will be a special event to celebrate the publication of “Robert Owen and his Legacy” (University of Wales Press, 2011). Open to all.
Travelling from Swansea University in Wales especially to attend the event will be the joint editors, Noel Thompson, Professor of History and Pro-Vice Chancellor, and Chris Williams, Professor of Welsh History and Director of the Research Institutes for Arts and Humanities. The volume consists of twelve essays from leading scholars and younger researchers on various aspects of the life, work and legacy of Robert Owen (1771-1858).
Amongst the Scotland-based contributors expected to be present at the New Lanark event, are Ian Donnachie, Emeritus Professor with the Open University and currently Chairman of the Friends of New Lanark, Robert Davis and Frank O’Hagan (retired) from Glasgow University, along with Jim Arnold and Lorna Davidson, retired and present Director of New Lanark Trust. This will be a unique opportunity to meet and question some of the leading authorities on Owen – always a controversial figure – and of course, you may wish to purchase a signed copy of the book!
