Every year we organise a wide variety of exciting events in the Visitor Centre and Hotel. If you are thinking of visiting New Lanark soon, why not combine your visit to the village with one of our events?

A GARDEN IN THE SKY AT NEW LANARK - Now open!

High above the historic village, on the roof of Mill No 2, an amazing garden is in bloom. See the World Heritage Site as you've never seen it before from the new Rooftop Viewing Platform!

A mini nature trail quiz is available to encourage children to discover the garden and its hidden sculptures.

New Lanark Visitor Centre, and the Roof Garden, is open every day from 11am - 5pm. Enjoy all the attractions with one passport ticket!


LUNCHTIME RECITAL BY ITALIAN CHOIR

Friday 22nd August

20 minute performance at 1pm

If you're going round the Visitor Centre this Friday you'll be able to enjoy the singing of the 'IL BALUARDO' choir from Lucca, Italy. The choir is planning to perform for about 20 minutes on the Roof Garden at 1pm.


WATERFALL DAYS

Saturday 23 & Sunday 24 August

View the majestic waterfalls in full spate on the Falls of Clyde Wildlife Reserve. Also live on CCTV at the Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre. Please check with the Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre before travelling on 01555 665262.


VICTORIAN FAIR

Sunday 7 September 12-5pm

Come and join in the fun at the huge annual street Fair with music, singing, street theatre, craft stalls, food stalls, Can Can dancers, puppet shows, birds of prey flying displays, face painting, and lots more entertainment! A fantastic family day out - not to be missed!

Please note that the Village Square and access road are closed for the Fair. A shuttle-bus service will provide transportation between the car park and village for Blue Badge holders and those who wish to use it. Only Village Parking Pass Holders will have vehicle access to the village. Entry to the Fair is only £5 per car with all proceeds going to charity. Arrive early to make the most of this event.


DOORS OPEN DAY

Sunday 14th September

As part of South Lanarkshire 'Open Doors Day' New Lanark Visitor Centre will be providing FREE access to 3 buildings in the village, which are not normally open to the public. Come and see inside The Counting House, the unrestored tenement home known as the "Museum Stair", and the Village Church, which is now used as the Village Hall.

HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND CELEBRATION WEEKEND

Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st September

During 2008, the Heritage Lottery Fund will reach the point where it has invested no less than half-a-billion pounds in Scotland's heritage. Projects at New Lanark have received funding over the years and we are happy to join the celebrations by offering FREE ENTRY (usual price £3.00) to the Robert Owen School exhibition area on the above days. This means you can enjoy the Interactive Gallery, Historic Classroom, Annie McLeod's Story, and the Saving New Lanark exhibition - all for FREE! Plus they'll be a costumed guide on hand.

Come along to the Edinburgh Woollen Mill store to take advantage of a further 20% off clearance lines.


THE BIG DRAW 2008

Saturday 11th October

Get creative at New Lanark and take part in this year's national Big Draw event. Art activities are free with a Visitor Centre ticket and will take place between 12 noon and 4pm. Watch this space for further details!

WINTER FOOD & GIFT FAIR

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th November - Free entry to the Fair

New Lanark’s annual winter Food and Gift Fair! With over 50 stalls indoors and out, this is the event to get all your food, drink & gifts at. Fill up your cupboards with fresh farm produce & indulge yourself with everything from handmade luxury chocolates & fudge to jewellery & handbags. 'Arbroath Smokies' will be attending the event on Sunday 9th, so you can enjoy the taste of freshly smoked fish. Entry to this event is FREE!
